The Tempo Communications Splice on Connector (SOC) provides a low loss low reflectivity termination for use in FTT(x) and P2P networks. Splice-on Connectors eliminate the need for a splice tray and promote a cleaner, more orderly installation as fiber lengths are easily determined. This prevents the technician from cutting the field fiber too short or too long. The fusion splice protector is located in the flexible strain relief/boot. The extended boot prevents the technician from inadvertently violating the minimum bend radius of the fiber thereby reducing the possibility of Macrobends from being made within the cabinet. The extended boot also provides the benefit of reusing the SOC if the fusion splicer failed to splice properly or if the cleaver failed to cleave the fiber properly. Up to three splicing attempts are possible which virtually eliminates the SOC from being wasted.

The Tempo Communications SOC can be used in any manufacturer’s fusion splicer as no special adapters or fixtures are required. This is because the technician is really splicing two fibers together. The added benefit is that no specialized training is required.

With only three parts, Tempo Communications’ SOC provides a simpler and much faster termination.

The SOC outperforms mechanical connectors with its low reflectivity and low insertion loss performance since there is no possibility of a high loss at the connection point. This is because there is a fusion splice rather than two fibers butted together that are prone to separating which will cause high loss/reflectivity.
